When you are planning a move, it is very easy to get overwhelmed with the details of hiring packers and movers, safely transporting your belongings and many other things. So much, that the date of moving tends to become an insignificant detail which you save for the last. But deciding beforehand on this little fact can be a great stress-reliever for later and keep you away from a lot of trouble.
And, of course, there’s a list of what you need to keep in mind while planning your move. Read ahead!
Time of the day
Rise and shine everyone. The best time to start your move is in the mornings. Most movers would be at your place by 7-10 am to start moving. Mornings are way cooler during the warmer summer months so this is an added bonus (you really don’t want to sweat your buns off on the D-day!). Plus you are on top of your game and full of energy in the mornings, so this plan fits you like a glove does a hand. This also leaves you with more time to unpack and organize your belongings while enjoying your new place.
Which day to move?
When picking a day, it would be best to pick a weekday between Monday to Thursday, as these days have lesser demand for Movers and Packers with people going off to work. So this may mean cheaper moving prices. People are usually inclined to gravitate towards weekends. So if you can, take a day off from work and move. This will also leave you with the rest of the week and the weekend to unpack and organize your stuff.
Time of the month
This one is pretty crucial. Always try to stick to a week that is in the middle of the month. These weeks have a considerably low demand as compared to the beginning and final weeks of the month. As most leases start by the first or last days of the month, those weeks tend to be more crowded and costlier. So a mid-week move could work out to your benefit in terms of time and money.
Best month of the year
You are more likely to save on a move during the window of September to March or April as the demand for movers is slower during this time which means lower rates for you! This is because most people with family prefer to move in the warmer months when their children would have vacations and the climate would also be ideal for moving. You can also try to plan your move after early September as most leases start at that time. This can prevent traffic and chaos on the streets and mean a lesser cost of moving for you.
Obviously, not all of us can move under optimal conditions. So, find out the best time, budget, and location that work for you and make a wise move.
