7 things you should know before you move

Shifting to a new residence could entail in multitude of steps and hardships. All the packing, moving, cancelling subscriptions, taking up new services could result in losing precious time.

We compiled a list to ease the process.

  1. Use a different box

With individuals thinking more and more holistically daily; we found a new packing method. Instead of using the traditional method which encompasses plenty of tapes, boxes; you could use sturdy storage boxes with lids instead. This is much more environmental friendly and efficient as it does not require external materials.

  1. Take your time!

This may result in you feeling stressed out, packing your whole house is definitely not an easy job. Delegate tasks between your family members; take your time! It may take more than a day but don’t fret, you can do this.

  1. Move some utilities

If your new home is in driving distance, move some utilities there first! Things like outfits where you have to wear daily, pyjamas, toiletries, those in which it is an absolute necessity so you will not have trouble of starting to unbox immediately the day you land!

  1. Your closet does not need packing.

Ask your mover to bring wardrobe boxes immediately! This will curb the tedious process of packing and unpacking your clothes and needing to refold all your clothes. This will save energy- you need to reserve as much energy as possible.

  1. The quicker, the better

Do not procrastinate! Get your job done as quickly as possible and move in with peace.

  1. Painting the walls should be the last.

Although everyone usually starts the move in process by painting their walls, this should be the last thing you do. Every house and furniture has its own distinctivity.  Set up your stuff and visualize, this automatically starts to form a colour palette in your mind and the shades will just start coming to your head.

  1. Take a stroll of knowledge.

Taking a stroll in the neighbourhood can release the burden off your chest. Breathe, talk to your neighbours, interact, walk your pets, just take your mind off everything.
